A person who spiked treats with tranquilliser and provided them to minors at a youth camp in the area has confessed to sexual offenses against two boys aged nine and ten years old.
Jon Ruben was arrested after eight youngsters and one adult fell ill at the facility in the summer month.
The senior citizen, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, admitted guilt to a multiple criminal counts when he stood at Leicester Crown Court on Friday.
Nevertheless, he disputed a single sexual charge he was facing, which was involving a nine-year-old child.
Ruben was remanded in custody ahead of a subsequent court date on late November.
'Treat game'
The prosecutor, presenting evidence, described the criminal behavior to the court.
She stated his those affected were disadvantaged youngsters who were attending a summer program which he ran.
Ruben engaged in a "treat game" with the minors, Mrs Prior said, in which he would go into the children's bedrooms when they were settling down and ask them to ingest treats "as quickly as they can".
She informed the proceedings Ruben had played this game with the boys "repeatedly", and children had earlier experienced illness the subsequent day.
She stated the defendant had been capable of justifying this repeatedly as the children being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepchild had worries in summer 2025.
The prosecutor stated further: "Recently" his family member had worries about what was going on, with valid cause.
"They chose" to have a look in the individual's items."
The prosecutor explained objects including infant oil, ointment and injection devices were discovered, and his stepson contacted the authorities about his worries.
She explained the man proceeded to conduct the "candy game" with six youngsters that evening - July 26th - and they were everyone unwell the following morning.
"Law enforcement" had not arrived by that stage," she stated further.
The police watchdog, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, had stated that it was investigating the police response of the events.
Mrs Prior stated the youngsters were struggling to walk due to being ill, so Ruben's stepson called the law enforcement once more.
She said Ruben then conducted the "treat game" in a room of five children.
